On June 7th, members of the Truckee Police Departm

On June 7th, members of the Truckee Police Department rolled up their sleeves and joined the community for Truckee Clean Up Day at beautiful Donner Lake. Together, we collected trash and unwanted items to help keep our lake and shoreline clean and safe for everyone to enjoy.

We’re proud to serve a community that cares deeply about preserving our natural spaces. A big thank you to all who participated and helped make a positive impact!

CASE UPDATE: In December of 2023, Truckee PD Detec

CASE UPDATE: In December of 2023, Truckee PD Detectives investigated multiple reports of a male suspect having used a fake school district email address to contact adult women via unsolicited Facetime video calls. Upon answering these calls, victims discovered a male suspect exposing himself and engaging in other lewd conduct. With the assistance of Investigators from the Nevada County District Attorney’s Office, TPD executed multiple search warrants resulting in the identification and arrest of Jesus Alonzo, 28, of Truckee. During his arrest, numerous electronic devices were seized and later searched, leading investigators to discover evidence of other felony crimes pertaining to the possession and manufacturing of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).

Last month, Jesus Alonzo was successfully convicted on both felony and misdemeanor charges pertaining to these acts. The conviction also triggered the requirement for lifetime registration as a Sex Offender in the State of California. The Truckee Police Department would like to thank our community for reporting these incidents to law enforcement when they occurred, as these efforts directly assisted with Alonzo’s arrest and further discovery of other sexual offenses involving children.

LOCATION: Truckee Town Hall – 10183 Truckee Airport Road

Bring your outdated bank statements, tax records, and other sensitive documents.
✅ Accepted items: paper, file folders, transparencies, and envelopes.
📦 Staples and paperclips do not need to be removed.

The suspect? Carmella Peaches—Mugz’s alter ego with a sweet tooth and zero regard for traffic laws.

After a ruff interrogation and thorough donut inspection, Captain Mugz made the ultimate sacrifice… and confiscated the evidence.

Justice was served... and so were the donuts.

Get ready, Truckee! Friday, June 6th is Bike to School Day, and we’re excited to see students pedaling their way to class!

Drivers, please be extra cautious and watch for increased bicycle and pedestrian traffic especially during morning and afternoon school hours. Slow down in school zones, check those mirrors, and give plenty of space to young riders on the road.

Mugz got a new ride! 🐾🛹

Thanks to Truckee High’s woodshop class, our four-legged Captain is now cruising in style on a custom skateboard- complete with his face engraved on the deck!

Students competed to design the perfect board for Mugz, and the winning creation is as wide and awesome as he is. Huge shoutout to Mr. Bensley and his talented crew for making it happen!

Keep your eyes peeled, you might just catch Mugz rolling through Truckee Thursdays or another upcoming event like a true legend. 💙

🚤 Boat Inspection Season is Here! 🚤
It’s officially boat inspection season at the Truckee Police Department! All motorized vessels launching on Donner Lake are required to complete the self-inspection process, and you must be able to produce your permit while on the lake. Non-motorized vessels, such as kayaks and paddleboards, are exempt from this requirement.

The self-inspection form is available on our website. After completing the form, watercraft owners can drop it off at the Truckee Police Department during open counter hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., excluding holidays).

Please note: We do not need to inspect your boat prior to launching.

Permits are valid for the entire 2025 season but apply only to Donner Lake.

Important Reminder:
If you already have a valid Lake Tahoe inspection sticker and have not launched in any other body of water, you do not need a separate Donner Lake 2025 sticker.
