Animal Services
Effective January 5, 2025, the Humane Society of Truckee-Tahoe (HSTT) has expanded its role through a new municipal contract with the Town of Truckee to oversee shelter operations, veterinary services, and community outreach. This partnership is designed to address our community’s growing needs, elevate animal care, and broaden program availability, including low-cost spay/neuter clinics and pet wellness initiatives.
Under this updated model, HSTT will ensure safe, humane shelter conditions, consistent medical care, and educational programs promoting responsible pet ownership. The Truckee Police Department will continue collaborating with HSTT, maintaining responsibility for field services through its dedicated Community Services Officers. This includes managing reports of abuse, animal bites, and community complaints.
The Truckee Animal Shelter is located at 10961 Stevens Lane in Truckee.
