Downtown Parking

The Police Department and the Engineering Department are responsible for the Downtown Parking District. This includes the oversight of maintenance and operations in the Downtown Parking District. The Parking District also coordinates activities with other Town departments and local businesses and acts as a liaison to the public, business owners, boards, and Town Council regarding parking related issues.

Employee Parking Permit

The Town provides reserved employee parking areas for Downtown employees. The Town distributes employee permits to the employer. If you need employee permits, complete the Employee Permit Application Form fax to (530) 582-7771.

The options for employee permits are described below:

Pre-Paid Permits allow for FREE parking in all designated employee lots (see map).

Permits can be purchased:

  • Annual = $360/permit
  • Bi-Annual = $210/permit
  • Monthly = $40/permit

Un-Paid Employee Permit (no charge for permit): The employee pays $2/day in designated lots. Allows for FREE parking in the East Railyard lot.

Vehicles must have permit displayed and must park in designated employee parking areas only. These areas include:

Railyard Lot: Free employee parking is available in the most eastern portion of the Railyard Lot with a valid employee permit displayed.  This parking area is located east of the parking lot across from the Truckee Artist Lofts and is available for parking 24-hours per day, seven days per week.

Jibboom St.: This permit parking area is available seven days per week. There is no parking in this area from 10:00 P.M. to 5:00 A.M. between November 1 and April 30 due to snow removal requirements.

Truckee Diner Lot: The Jax Truckee Diner Lot is located on West River St. with employee parking available seven days per week. Parking is available in the lot, in the spaces on the south side of the lot. Between November 1 and April 30 there is no parking from 2:00 A.M. to 5:00 A.M for snow removal purposes.

Brickelltown.: This permit parking area is available seven days per week on the south side of the road. There is no parking in this area from 10:00 P.M. to 5:00 A.M. between November 1 and April 30 due to snow removal requirements.

Contractor

If you’re a contractor working on a project Downtown and will need to utilize any of the paid parking spaces, you can prepay the spaces at a discounted rate. Contact the Truckee Parking Division at (530) 582-2915 for more details.

Fines/Payments/Appeals

If you received a parking ticket in Downtown Truckee, you have 21 days to pay or appeal the parking ticket.

Pay a Parking Fine

The citation number and license plate number are always required when paying a parking fine. 

For tickets issued before January 1, 2021: Please email the Town of Truckee at parking@townoftruckee.com to coordinate payments.

For tickets issued after January 1, 2021, tickets can be paid by the following methods:

  • Online: https://www.citationprocessingcenter.com/ for tickets issued after January 1, 2021.
  • By Mail:  Check or money order payments (DO NOT SEND CASH) can be sent to the address below.  Checks should be made payable to: Town of Truckee.

Appeal a Parking Fine

You do not have to appear in court to appeal your parking ticket with the Town of Truckee. We process parking ticket appeal decisions through the mail. For tickets issued before January 1, 2021, please email the Town of Truckee at parking@townoftruckee.com and include the citation number and license plate number.  For tickets issued after January 1, 2021, you may appeal your ticket online at https://www.citationprocessingcenter.com. All appeals must be received by the Town within 21 days of the date of issuance of your citation. Failure to submit your appeal within the 21-day time period will result in a denied appeal, and you will be required to pay the parking fine. Once your appeal is received, your appeal request will be forwarded to the Town’s Hearing Officer, and you will receive the appeal decision in the mail.

Late Payment Charge

Parking citations not paid within twenty-one (21) days of issuance or appeal decision are subject to a 25% late payment charge on the original fine amount.

Parking citations not paid within thirty-five (35) days of issuance or appeal decision are subject to a 50% late payment charge on the original fine amount.

Notice to our Customers: When you provide a check as payment, you authorize us either to use the information from your check to make a one-time electronic fund transfer from your account or to process the payment as a check transaction.
